What?! Why would one want this next, fresh, new year to be anything like 2010? I have to say 2010 was not a booming real estate year in general, but thanks to my past and present clients, I had one of my best years ever – selling 15 properties! So, I have to “toot my own horn” here…..Toot-toot! Please call me in 2011 for a free market analysis of the ever-changing, current market value of your property – I’m happy to help! In-Law Apartments
Posted by Gracie Haines in Gracie's Blog on September 23, 2010
UPDATE: THE RUCKERSVILLE HOME IS UNDER CONTRACT. My latest two listings each have an in-law apartment on the terrace level. These are each very special homes in and of themselves – but very interesting that they each have this extra space for guests and family members. Now these are not rentable apartments – in fact the county regulations do not allow them to be rentable. I understand that Albemarle County has recently allowed some new construction homes to have a rental apartments – this is a major feat for builders and developers but they must abide by very stringent requirements in order to do this. But as far as existing homes with apartments, it is my understanding that one must only allow family members and non-paying guests . Does anyone care to comment on this or set the record straight?
I think a basement apartment – with full kitchen and separate entrance would be a great thing to have! For ageing parents, returning children – ug oh! – and just as pleasant accommodations for guests. In each of these homes the houses can easily live as one home as the basements have interior stairs.
Hope you get a chance to visit these unique and very livable properties!
